We are back from Seoul! I am glad we went before the situation worsens. And we didn't have to cut short our trip. Heng ah...
I will be blogging about our Seoul trip in three parts. But first up, Stan's birthday first! (before it becomes way overdue)
We wanted to go for tea but we went round in circles and couldn't find the right place. And so ended up at Bugis' Ma Maison.
Not a bad choice, they have a tea set at $10.80 (if I don't remember wrongly) which includes a slice of tart and a drink.
Berries tart (left) and chestnut tart (right).
I prefer the chestnut one because it's soft and nice! Yummy.... Cheap thrill la.
Before dinner, we walked around Bugis area. We don't usually go to town area but since it's his birthday and it's a weekday, we figured that it shouldn't be too crowded. We really enjoyed walking around, just chatting and laughing. No need to buy anything. Company is what matters the most to me.
While waiting for the restaurant to be ready for dinnertime, here's our outfits!
Previously, I mentioned that I have another French restaurant to share. So here it is!
Highly recommended by Michele, we finally have the chance to patronize this place!
Saveur www.saveur.sg 5 Purvis Street Talib Court #01-04 Singapore 188584
(they don't take reservations, so don't bother calling)
The place officially opens at 6. We were there at 5.50pm and there were already 5 groups of people ahead of us!
After being seated, the place was filled up within 8 minutes. By 6.08pm, the place is packed!
Yes, this place is THAT popular. Even on a Thursday evening.
Our starters: Mushroom cappucino (left) and pan-seared Foie Gras with apple-infused port wine and vanilla beans (right)
I am not a fan of the mushroom sou because other than the strong mushroom taste, there is no other taste. But Stan likes it. So if you are a fan of mushroom, you might like this.
We reached a consensus for the Foie Gras. DAMN GOOD!!!!
Nicely seared, crispy on the outside and melts inside your mouth =D
Main course (mine): Duck Confit (duck leg confit, homemade mashed potato, sauteed shitake mushroom, orange segments and prange infused natural jus
Duck confit is very worth it. Portion is good for one.
Main course (Stan's): Chicken (a roulade of chicken thigh stuffed with foie gras-infused chicken farce, creamy basmati rice and parmesan sauce)
This one is super yummy but portion a bit too small. Not filling.
If you want to try French cuisine but don't wanna burn a hole in your pocket, Saveur is the place for you!
Be warned: go early or risk going home on an empty stomach!!
Happy birthday to my birthday boy! This picture is profile picture worthy!
Walking around Bugis, we chanced upon Twelve Cupcakes.
I have always seen Twelve Cupcakes around but $3 for a small cupcake? I am not prepared to pay this price and so I haven't tried it till today.
In the evening, they had a promotion: Buy two and get one free. So we bought three! Now the average price is $2.
Pardon the accountant in me. Eating good food at a lower price gives me more utility! Heh...
From left: Rose, Red Velvet and PB Chocolate.
Oh-so-yummy but damn sinful la. It's so easy to get fat on these cupcakes but gotta exercise self-discipline!
As some people say, "fat die me!" I can't stand such phrases, e.g. "fat die me". Does these three words even make sense?? "Worn to death". Huh? You will wear these clothes to your deathbed? What talking you?!! I really can't stand it.
Stan loves his PB chocolate, check out his child-like grin!
Happy birthday to Stanley Quek! Please forgive me for not getting you any birthday present this year, but I hope you like all the food and places we went to!
To Stan: Love encompasses everything. To accept each other's strengths and flaws, I hope we can do that for many years to come. I am very happy that you have plans for our future and let's work hard for a better tomorrow!
Coming up next, Seoul Part One! Keep a lookout for it!
