Just felt like writing a random post full of random thoughts today. Please bear with me because this is gonna be one long wordy post. Nothing to do with food or travelling. So there is more to Michelle Chiang than just food and shopping.
Having worked for almost four years now, I asked myself, would I prefer studying to working? My answer is: I prefer working. Sure, there may be lots of fun during recess time, chatting about the cute guys in class or playing chase at the field. I will always remember the times we spent at Jurong Entertainment Centre (JEC in short) after school. J-Cube has since replaced the mall that used to house a cinema and ice-skating rink. A lot of fond memories at JEC.
But I really hate the exam period. Having to stress ourselves out, don't know what exactly we are doing. Just studying because we are forced to (to live up to our parents' expectations, to avoid remedial lessons after school). I don't mind studying, but could we do without the exams? Silly question, I know. Obviously the answer is no la! If not, how to measure one's level of intelligence? How would the teachers know whether we have absorbed whatever they teach? Without exams, no one would bother to study!
And so I prefer to work. Every minute spent working means you are earning money. Yes, you face stress and problems at work. At least by the end of the month, you will see your monetary reward in your bank account for putting up with all the problems in the office. Working also means that you are free to spend your hard-earned money in whatever way you deem fit. No one can control your finances anymore.
My mom said it's very sad to suffer from Alzheimer's. Indeed very sad. Not to be able to remember your loved ones, what you had for dinner last night, where you stay, etc. I told her to take notes and pictures, play more mahjong and Candy Crush on her iPad so that she prevents her brain from deteriorating. It's probably something that we will all have to face when we grow old. So seize the moment and try to remember everything you can. All the good and bad things that happened.
I admit that I am not a nice person. I am only nice to my friends or when I am in the mood. There are always people out there pissing me off, in one way or another. Some people are just so nasty that I don't bother talking to them. I just curse under my breath. I don't like fake people at all. I can't bring myself to be so fake and I have no idea how some can do it so well! To each his own, I guess.
That's all I have to say today. If my blog post bore you to tears, I am sorry for that. I just had to write something.
