Before I jet off on another trip (in one week's time), here is my blog post on my most recent Bangkok trip! =)
I went on this trip with my mom and aunt. Our first all girls trip ever! We were all very excited.
Arrival at Bangkok International Airport
I will be their tour guide for the next 4D3N. Hee hee
Our hotel room wasn't ready for check in yet, so we went to Terminal 21 (just 3 minutes' walk away from our hotel) for lunch and quick shopping!
From top left (in clockwise direction): Roast duck noodles, fish maw soup, Thai-style omelette with rice, papaya salad and seafood fried rice.
My outfit of the day!
You won't get to see much pictures of myself in the rest of this post because I fell sick on the very first day we reached Bangkok. So no mood to take selcas =(
This shot was taken before I fell sick, hence still the happy face.
Our accomodation for this trip - The Continent Hotel
We booked an Executive Sky room with an extra bed. Adds up to about S$60 per person per night (inclusive of breakfast).
There were supposed to be more benefits that comes with Sky room. However, the hotel staff did not explain the benefits clearly to me upon check-in.
Worst of all, the amenities in the room were so slipshod! Clearly there were three of us, but they gave 2 bottles of water, one set of toothbrush, only ONE pillow on my extra bed when it was supposed to be two. Duh.... I pay for the extra bed, of course there will be 3 people staying in the room right?
After I asked the concierge for 3 sets of amenities, we left the hotel for Central World. After we came back, they merely gave me one more bottle of water.
Room isn't very big too. TV wasn't working well at all, the damn screen was so lousy and kept flickering. We didn't even watch TV during our stay. Better off using our own iPads.
My aunt slept on the side nearest to the toilet and she said that the carpet was wet. I think the water from the shower area seeped through the glass and into the carpet. Such lousy waterproofing eh?
All in all, I do not like this hotel at all. NOT AT ALL.
The good location is the hotel's ONLY redeeming feature. I won't recommend you to stay there if you are going to Bangkok.
After we went to Central World at Chit Lom, I started feeling unwell. But I didn't wanna spoil the day, so we continued walking around the area and brought my mom and aunt to the ever-crowded Naraya shop.
I just waited outside because I was too feverish to squeeze amongst the crowds.
Second day.
Having slept through the night for about 10 hours, my fever subsided and I woke up at 630am.
It was a great chance to visit the pool when it was not hot and there was no one at all. I had the whole place to myself!
Breakfast time!
First stop for the day: Chatuchak Weekend Market
Crazy crowds but we managed to buy some stuff. If not for the sweltering heat, we would have been able to cover more areas of the market. We discovered some nice artsy shops and I would wanna go back for more!
Second stop and lunch at Union Mall.
No pictures because I didn't really have much of a voice and my throat was quite bad. So I used all my energy on shopping rather than taking pictures.
That evening, we went to Phra Ram 9 to get our nails done and check out our pretty toes in the picture below =)
3rd Day: Siam Centre, Siam Discovery and Siam Paragon
My mom and aunt were really funny. I told them to "take picture, come come!"
They happily posed. I happily snapped a shot.
Then they asked, "Who's that ah?"
"Tom Cruise la! You mean you can't recognise him?"
"Tom Cruise got so short meh?"
LOL.
I wanted to try out Magnum Cafe at Siam Centre but we had no time!
Siam is really quite big and it can take up at least one day to comb the whole area!
So we just took one touristy shot and we are off to our next location!
On board the ferry towards Asiatique.
It was raining on our way there but luckily the rain stopped shortly after we arrived!
So we weren't really confined to a certain space.
Dinner was at this really cool restaurant called WHY 97.
The ambience was really good and we had a very relaxing dinner. I resisted the urge to order a cocktail or beer even though it was so cheap! For the sake of my health la.....
Last day: Lunch at Phra Ram 9
We went back to Phra Ram 9 to shop a bit more before our flight back to Singapore because it was quite near to our hotel.
Last meal in Bangkok - Thai food is a must!!
Pineapple rice, pomelo salad, phad thai, Thai-style hor fun, tom yum goong!
Below are some pictures that I thought were nice and would like to share with you.
I took them throughout this trip.
Whoo! Going on another holiday soon! Destination to be revealed on my Facebook page =)
