I walked past a cafe and saw some kids telling their parents what happened in school today. Their innocent faces lit up when they talked about how the teacher had praised them for their good work. So this is what happiness means to them.
Now I finally understand why adults used to tell us that being a child is the best and that we should cherish the time being a student. It's during your childhood that you worry about your school grades and puppy love. And you'd think that you want to grow up quickly so that you don't have to study anymore.
But now that I have grown up, I've come to realize that worrying about schoolwork is the least stressful (assuming that you don't have parents who watch you like a hawk). There are a lot more responsibilities to shoulder as you grow up - taking care of your parents (yes, it's payback time), starting your own family, managing your career, etc.
Right now, happiness is being able to enjoy the sunset on my way home. Happiness is eating my favorite Korean food. Happiness is bagging something value-for-money and anticipating its arrival in my mailbox. Happiness is spending chillax time with my loved ones, just doing nothing.
Our definition of happiness changes with age and time. All things might change, but don't ever forget what makes you happy. And remember to make yourself happy once in a while. After all, life is nothing without happiness.
