Food Galore: Miam Miam (The French Cafe with a Japanese Twist)

Monday, April 7, 2014

We went to JEM one early weekend (when I don't need to work on Toy Project) and I was overjoyed at an empty Miam Miam waiting for me!

Ok, I didn't make a reservation. Just happened that we went around 11.30am and the place just opened for business that day. It's like we had (almost) the whole place to ourselves. Such an good feeling, to be able to dine in peace without bawling toddlers or aunties with big shopping bags.

The food is somewhat similar to Hoshino's (at Plaza Singapura) except they have a wider variety of food! I don't really fancy Hoshino because of its limited choice of food and quality wasn't WOW enough.

Miam Miam, on the other hand, blew me away!

I wasn't hungry at first. And french toasts don't usually appeal to me. But it beats soufflés anytime, so I chose their signature french toast to fill my tummy for a while. And it was the best choice!

It is not served with ice cream, don't be mistaken. It's actually cold whipped cream. You can opt for no whipped cream but for photo-taking purposes, I had the cream on top. Maple syrup was served in a small bottle by the side. Drizzle it over the whipped cream and let everything melt downwards onto the toast and voila, you have the best french toast in Singapore!

It was soooooooo yummy! Now I am salivating just at the thought of it. There were crispy sides of the toast and it was very soft. The powdered sugar, cold cream and hot maple syrup brought this whole dish to yet another level!

Another dish that caught my attention on the menu was the Seafood Squid Ink Risotto. I love my risotto and pasta with squid ink, so it's always a must-have if I see this on the menu. What's even better was that it was served with scrambled eggs (another of my favorite!). So how can I resist ordering the risotto?!

Portion is just nice for one person because anything more would have been too much. The al dente rice was cooked to perfection and there wasn't any watery sauce around it. Served in a hot pan, the risotto was kept warm even till the last grain!

There were lots of fresh seafood in it and the HUGE scrambled egg made this whole dish very filling and satisfying! =)

I will be back to try other dishes such as their Miam Miam pasta. Saw the other table order it and the portion looks good for two to share! Slightly on the pricey side but the quality of the food makes it all worthwhile!
