Staycation at Swissotel

Friday, November 29, 2013

Very overdue post.

Two weeks ago, I felt an impulse to go for a staycation and immediately booked Swissotel for a night's stay!

On the day itself, we arrived at the concierge, all excited and ready to start our staycation. But things didn't go well. And I emailed them to lodge a complaint.

Reply came back in about 2 hours' time but they only apologized and didn't offer much of a solution. Of course, we were not gonna let this issue ruin our staycation!

Here's a pic of the view from our room!

My random OOTD. Lol

We only had our lunch at 2plus and I was craving for sushi, so we tried out this new sushi place at the newly renovated wing of Suntec!

Check out Stan's silly smile while waiting for our food!

A bit like Genki Sushi, you use the iPad to place your order and the food will come shortly after you have confirmed your orders!

One word of caution: they will automatically place a plate of edamame beans on the table after you are seated (like serving peanuts at a Chinese restaurant). The beans are not complimentary and costs about $4 a plate. So be sure to let them know that you don't want the beans if you really don't want them or you could end up paying for something you don't even want!

Generally, the sushi is quite nice and fresh. Except portion's kinda small (the rice is very little, maybe to let you have the the impression that the sashimi on top looks bigger?).

Stan loves the garlic seafood fried rice ($6 for a bowl). It's good that they do offer small portions at reasonable prices so that you can actually have a taste of more variety even if there's only two of you!

After lunch, we went back to the hotel to explore the area! The pool isn't fantastic, as you can tell. Looks quite old-fashioned and run-down. We didn't go for a dip as the weather was quite gloomy that day.

And it's my favorite time of the day - sunset! Thanks to the gloomy weather, no sun means no nice orangey skyline lor. Hmph.

Breakfast at Cafe Swiss the next morning! Not really good compared to Pan Pacific's breakfast. Not a lot of variety and the quality of the food is just average. Quite cramped because there were too many tables around.

I am not sure about the other hotels in Singapore, but I am definitely not coming back to Swissotel the Stamford. I'd rather spend the money on other hotels.

Don't Stan just look so cute in my ASOS shades?
