Having blogged about so many cafes and eggs benedict recently, I am craving for good old traditional Chinese cuisine - dim sum! 

This place is run by a former chef of Tung Lok and now he has ventured out on his own, to set up a small but very popular dim sum place! Actually, it's not his own space. It's a just one stall out of the rest at the coffee shop.



Har Gow (shrimp dumpling)

Prawns are big and very fresh, full of flavour. The skin is translucent while not too thick. Nice!

  

Siew Mai

Didn't really take a liking to this because there was no prawn. Or maybe I failed to taste them? Haha



Fried shrimp dumpling

The prawn paste is good! Still can see bits of prawn and the skin was super crispy.



Red bean and banana fritter


I rarely eat fried stuff but red bean and banana go together like old people and chicken soup. Haha.. All I am saying that it's a super good combination.

  

Carrot Cake

I have never eaten steamed carrot cake like this! Looks more like yam cake right? And if you think it looks bland, then you are WRONG! This is very flavourful and I especially like the shreds of radish amidst the super smooth cake.

Oh so good………..



Glutinous rice roll with shrimp

The rice flour roll tastes like the plain rice rolls that we usually eat with the red sweet sauce and sesame seeds sprinkled on top. Not quite the Hong Kong style that I was expecting.



Salted egg custard bun

A must-order for me! It has to be SALTED EGG with CUSTARD. Custard on its own would have been boring. But with liquid salted egg, yums!

So far, my favorite is still the one from Imperial Treasure because I find the bun for this kinda thick. 

  

Dim sum at Yi Dian Xin is really cheap. 7 dishes for only $20.50! Really worth a try if you are in the area. Located just beside a teochew porridge stall, so please don't miss it!
