Food Galore: Jamie Oliver's Restaurant and Pop-up Magnum Cafe

Wednesday, October 9, 2013

GB and I went to try out the renowned Jamie Oliver's restaurant at Vivo City on a weekday during lunchtime. And thankfully, there wasn't any queue!

Jamie's Italian
1 HarbourFront Walk,
VivoCity, #1 165-167
Singapore 098585

Prior online booking is strongly recommended!

Jamie's Walnut Salad - $9.50
Trevisse, chicory and baby beets with crunchy walnuts and sweet balsamic.

It's really true to the description above. It's JUST like that..... For $9.50, it's kinda pricey for me. GB said the nicest thing about this salad is the walnut. Wahahahaha

Brixham Bay Crab Risotto - $19 (bigger portion at $28.50)
Creamy risotto made with incredible acquerello rice and topped with lemony crab, samphire and chili.

The risotto wasn't served warm, more like room temperature. And you can't really taste the crab meat? We didn't take a fancy to this dish AT ALL.

Prawn Linguine - $17 (bigger portion at $25)
Fried garlicky prawns, shaved fennel, tomatoes, chili and rocket.

This was our favourite out of the three dishes. The handmade pasta wowed us and the sauce was good!

==========

As you can probably tell, the portion at lunch was toooo small. And so we had plenty of room for dessert!

I didn't have a chance to try out the Magnum Cafe in Bangkok, so I was determined to try out the pop-up store at Vivo!

Both the exterior and interior were a huge disappointment for me. Sooooo different from the one I saw in Bangkok.

And we had a look at the dessert menu, all so expensive!!

And so we had the DIY magnum! Not exactly DIY you  know?

The only DIY part is choosing three toppings and that's it. Leave the rest to the young staff.

After you choose your toppings, they will mix everything in a shaker (just a small cup, actually).

Choose your coating - dark choc / milk choc / white choc.

They will sprinkle the toppings and then you get to choose your flavour of chic for a last drizzle.

Voila! Our "DIY" Magnum ice cream at $7.90 nett each. And pls note that it's a Mini, not the actual sized one.
