A few weeks back, I finally tried out Tim Ho Wan (cheapest 1 star Michelin restaurant from Hong Kong) in Singapore! We were there at about 10am and had to wait for 30 minutes before we finally got a table. And it was on a Friday! I didn't know people work 4 day weeks now. The queue was quite long (not as long as when it first opened, of course).
My dim sum kakis: Adele and Hui Ming!
Me!
The MUST-ORDER at Tim Ho Wan: Baked buns with BBQ pork (limited to 3 buns per pax).
It tastes good when it is really hot and fresh, with the crispy crust and all. But it felt the same as the Canton Paradise ones... At least to me. So I'd go to Canton Paradise anytime over Tim Ho Wan. Because I simply hate to queue.
Steamed egg cake.
I didn't try this while I was in Hong Kong but Hui Ming said it was good and we ordered one!
Quite expensive at $3.80 per piece but it was quite addictive. All soft and fluffy!
Steamed prawn dumplings (Har Gow).
This tastes good too, with big fresh prawns! Har Gow has always been a favourite of mine. I must eat this at every dim sum session! =)
Steamed pork dumpling (Siew Mai).
Glutinous rice roll with prawns filling.
The skin was a bit too thick for my liking but the sauce was nice. Prawns weren't really big and cut up into smaller pieces. I would have preferred big whole ones. *slurp*
Overall, it was a good experience chilling out with my friends and having good dim sum. At least now I can tell people that I have tried out the Tim Ho Wan in Singapore!
