Food Galore: Cafe-hopping to Craft Bakery Cafe

Monday, January 6, 2014

I saw their post on Facebook and thought I'd give it a try on New Year's Day. Big disappointment….

Their menu:

Large cafe latte - $6.50

In my humble opinion, it doesn't taste good nor look good. Has a sourish aftertaste. Did they spoil the coffee beans or something?

The "Very Very Thick Toast" - $9.20

Brioche toast with sautéed mushrooms, poached and hollandaise sauce.

We didn't actually order this. The waitress served this to us and said "here's your Eggs Florentine."

Whuuuuut??? Which part of this looks like there is smoked salmon inside? I was very dumbfounded. Until we asked her again and then she took it back. I pity the next poor soul who ordered this "thick toast".

Doesn't look appetizing at all. To quote Gordon Ramsay, "looks like someone just vomited on the plate".

Waffle with mixed berries compote - $7.90
(add on Bratwurst sausage - $3.90)

Look at how unappealing this plate of food looks!!! Argh… The bad memories are rushing back. Yikes!

The waffle isn't nice, not the correct type of flour. And the berries compote is too sweet. Tastes very artificial.

The only thing I like is the sausage but I won't pay $3.90 for it, ever again.

Eggs Florentine - $15

Poached eggs weren't done well, hollandaise sauce kinda tasteless, smoked salmon didn't taste good. All in all, not worth $15 at all.

The service at Craft Bakery is quite bad. We asked for two glasses of water and it never came, until we had to remind them again. I asked for knives because they didn't provide and they only gave me one. Hello? Got two of us, need TWO knives ok? It's like they didn't buy enough knives for the whole cafe and had to keep washing the used ones.

The table next to us was having pasta and the pregnant lady looked like she was having a very hard time trying to finish the pasta (which didn't even look edible) at all.

Saw an auntie walking in and out of the kitchen. Please don't tell me she is the chef because she looks like she can cook hokkien mee better than a poached egg.

I am never going back there anymore. HMPH.
