Cafe-hopping: The Brew and Bake Company
GB and I went to a newly-opened cafe recently: The Brew and Bake Company!
The Brew & Bake Company
28 Clementi Road
Singapore 129754
(closed on every Wednesday)
Their decor is simple yet cosy and sweet. The owner, Louis, has lovingly displayed all his toy collections in the cafe and it's really nice to go back to the childhood days where everything is simple and happy.
The sofas are specially flown in from Bangkok because they wouldn't compromise on the furniture design. It's really quite comfortable and the bright colors would cheer you up immediately!
They are still in the process of experimenting and coming up with new food to add onto their menu. So you might just be in for a surprise when you pop by!
On the day we went, there were two different pies on display.
And the coffee is hand-made with love by the very talented boss himself! GB had the strawberry vanilla latte while I had my usual vanilla latte.
As it turns out, the strawberry vanilla latte is very nice! Very special and the taste of strawberry is not too overwhelming to mask the coffee.
You can customize your own coffee here! Tell Louis what you would like in your coffee and he will try his best to do it! Fantastic right?
Lemony Peppermint Pie (with digestive crust)
Very pretty pie and it has a faint tinge of peppermint taste. The pastry at the bottom could be thicker. But the filling is good!
Lemony Peppermint Pie (with Oreo biscuit crust)
The same thing, but slightly different with the Oreo biscuit crust this time, courtesy of Louis =)
I personally prefer this version because the taste of peppermint and lemon is stronger. I like my food packed with a punch!
Peanut Butter Candy Bar Pie
We gave it another name - Diet's Nightmare. LOL
This pie is packed sinfully with lots of peanut butter, snickers bar and oreo biscuit! It is very very very yummy! First bite and we were hooked! Super good. The right mix of peanut butter gives this pie a slightly savory taste and you might just bite into a whole chunk of snickers bar. Oh so good!!!
And that very night, just before I went to bed, this pie popped into my mind again! Now I am craving for it….
Ending this post with the picture below. It's a very nice place to chill on a weekday afternoon. The portion of the pies are very big, compared to other places. Definitely value for money ($5.90 per slice and students get a 10% discount!).
The cafe is conveniently located near NUS hostels and we saw quite a few students coming by despite the rain! There is also a famous nasi lemak place along the same stretch. So you could have nasi lemak for dinner and then come over for some desserts!
Warning: Don't eat too heavy a dinner, you will wanna save some stomach for the yummy Diet's Nightmare =)
