Cafe Hopping: Five and Dime at River Valley Road It was one of the those few days that Stan and I had the luxury of enjoying brunch together on a weekend morning and yet we don't know where to go! Was beginning to get frustrated till I found this place and we were like, "Let's just give it a try!" Because I have been trying quite a number of brunch places recently and it's getting harder to find somewhere with nice food, little crowds and not too far away. So this is a hidden gem, I must say! Five and Dime Eatery 297 River Valley Road Singapore 238338 Check out their full menu listing here! Stan was feeling quite hungry and so we ordered more food than the usual! Cafe mocha Erm, is this considered coffee art? But anyway, the drink is great, quite chocolatey but still has a strong taste of coffee. Crispy Calamari with Homemade Tartar sauce - $8 Been trying to cut back on seafood recently because of its high cholesterol but this one was really good! We polished everything off! Eggs Benny with smoked ham, fruit salad, breakfast potatoes and mesclun salad - $16 I like the Hollandaise sauce here! And the bread is soft and sweet, goes well with the runny egg yolk =) Egg Mayo and Bacon Panini This one is slightly cheaper than Eggs Benny at $12 but everything looks shrunken. LOL It is equally filling thanks to the panini but the egg mayo was diced up a little too fine for my liking. Couldn't really taste the actual egg. We were seated on their 2nd floor which is now closed. The 2nd floor is much quieter and private, I like! If you guys got any new brunch places to recommend, please tell me. I am running out of places to go! I want cheap Eggs Benny!! Labels: brunch, cafe hopping, food galore |
