I don't like the usual bibimbap placed in a hot stone pot. And this kind of bibimbap placed in a big metal bowl makes me feel like I am really in Korea!
It has lotsa vegetables and one happy sunny side up! =) The rice is always on the side, so you can choose how much you wanna add in. I'd just add in half a bowl of rice, spend the next 5 minutes mixing everything well and voila! One happy meal is ready!
I love slurping up all the mixed veg and rice, especially when it's coated with a bit of runny egg yolk. Sooooo delicious!
Another must-eat at Hwang's - their BBQ meat on a hot plate!
The portion is pretty big for the price (around $5 - $6) and it tastes really authentic. Not like the usual ones at the food court. It also saves you the time of cooking it on your own, like in the average Korean restaurants. The sauce is really good, you gotta taste it for yourself!
I am sure everyone loves Korean ramen but it costs at least $8 at the restaurant. But not at Hwang's! It's only $3.50 and you can add mandus (dumplings) for a dollar more! Super affordable right?
I think I am beginning to sound like those hyper bloggers trying too hard to promote a certain place because they were paid to. But I am not paid!! It is really very cheap and good!
Fine, now I have shared one of my favorite Korean food places in Singapore. Please don't flood Hwang's k? Save me a table please!
Oh yes, they are closed on Sundays. Last order at 9pm everyday.

A long long time ago, we met up with my pretty girlfriend, Xiuling, for korean food at Robertson Walk!
I think there was an important soccer match going on that night, so everyone were outdoors. Indoors was quite empty and peaceful.

This place doesn't serve water or tea. Buy your wine!
We had the yoghurt rice wine which didn't really taste of yoghurt at all. Don't ask me why. I think there are better rice wines out there.

Only preserved radish and anchovies! Where's my kimchi?!!
Bibimbap
It was between bibimbap or the kimchi fried rice. We chose this in the end because we thought that there'd be more 料 but the portion turned out quite small.
There were some crispy bits and it's quite nice, albeit the small serving.
Stir-fried chicken
This dish costs $18 I think. The chicken was coated with some honey if my memory didn't fail me. It's pretty tasty with the cashew nuts and some bits of capsicum. You definitely can't eat this as a main though, not filling without any carbo. Haha!
Korean cold noodles (Naeng Myun)
I quite like this for sharing because the cold soup was very refreshing and the noodles still retained its springy texture.
Maybe a little too much for one person (unless you are a fan of cold noodles?). Sharing for three is just nice =)
Army Stew (Budae Jigae)
Nowhere like the real thing from Korea, so it was a bit of disappointment. No ramen and the pot was quite small. Too spicy for my liking.
The authentic budae jigae is served in a big pot over a fire and you can add in more SPAM ham, bean sprouts, rice cakes and ramen anytime you like! Damn, I miss Seoul!!
Someone bring me back there please!!!!
After an expensive dinner (I think the meal costs about $110 for three of us, which is quite expensive given the portions and quality of the food), we adjourned to the TCC nearby for drinks and more heart-to-heart talks!
That night we chatted till 12 midnight and everyone was really exhausted! It was such a nice catch-up with Xiuling and girl, if you are reading this, let's do this again soon!
And hor, I think the budae jigae you made for my birthday last year was much nicer la! Can we have it again sometime soon? Pretty please?

It's very moisturising and I usually don't have to apply anymore moisturiser after the mask.

Day 7: Seoul Station and MyeongDong
We wanted to find the bathhouse but we couldn't find it despite walking around 20 minutes! So we went to the shopping mall to satisfy our growling stomachs.

With the help of a friendly staff in the Lotte supermart, we finally found the bathhouse!
You need to walk out from the back door of the Lotte supermart and you will be able to see it from afar!
Rates: 12,000won per person if you wanna enjoy the full facilities (including hot spring) for 12 hours.

There are 5 storeys to this place. Freaking huge. No kidding.
Found this empty games room and we played the game featured on Running Man.
(FYI, I won two out of three games. =b)
Stan wanted to challenge the 86 degrees room but the steam came out when he opened the door!
And so he closed the door immediately without going in. There are a few kinds of rooms there, with different temperatures and different purposes.
I did this towel thing on my own! Learnt from the Koreans. Wahahahaha... Pro right?
How can we not eat anything in the bathhouse?!
Wanted to eat two eggs for 1,500 won but this ramen is only 3,000 won. So the choice is clear.
And this ramen is the best ramen I have eaten in my life! Noodles cooked to perfection, not too soft or soggy. Add in the rice cakes and EGG!!! Perfect~ (salivating, still)
We finished every bit of it. Yummy
We were at the bathhouse for about 3 hours, very empty in the day. Just as we were about to leave, a bunch of Chinese tourists ran into the bathhouse, shouting across the changing room for their comrades.
We left at the right time, clearly.
Back to shopping at the Lotte super mart! They sell everything, including Daiso stuff, facial stuff, Uniqlo clothes, shoes, chips, fresh produce, etc. Sort of like our Giant, except much nicer and cleaner!
Went back to hotel to deposit our shopping bags before heading out for dinner.
This BBQ place near our hotel looks pretty crowded and we were lucky to get a table.
The pork was soaked in soda water, hence very tender and sweet!
BBQ pork intestines, anyone? They should have this in Singapore! Super yummy when you cut it into small slices and barbecue till golden brown.
We had this super friendly Chinese exchange student working part-time at the restaurant to serve us. He was very very helpful and taught us the right way to appreciate Korean BBQ =)
The whole meal came up to 22,400 won for two of us (approx S$25). Cheap!!!
Last night in Seoul - Myeong Dong for last minute shopping!
Didn't manage to buy much but we saw this really cool juice store with a really cool concept.
Choose your own fruits, and decide how you want it done - smoothie, yoghurt or popsicle!
We chose banana, strawberry and kiwi to make into a smoothie. 160kcal and they even show you the nutrition levels!
I don't know whether we are lucky or suay.
Lucky because at least we gotta see sakura on our last night in Seoul. Unlucky because it's ONLY till the last night that we get to see sakura!
We sorted out everything in one hour and took another hour to pack it into our luggages. Damn shagged.......
Day 8: Sinchon and Yeouido
More 10,000 won bags at Sinchon before we head home. Issac sandwich for the last breakfast in Seoul.
Chicken galbi (BBQ chicken) for lunch!
Stan was having a cough, so we didn't have much BBQ stuff till the last day. Well, at least we tried the authentic stuff once.
Towards the end, you can order fried rice and this is the best part of the meal. All the good stuff in one!
Yay! More sakura today! And the weather was finally up at 16 degrees. Past few days were 8 or 9 degrees.
There is a place called Yeouido Park where they had this Sakura festival for just two days.
Nothing fantastic leh. I think the sakura flowers were in fuller bloom at Sinchon than at Yeouido.
One last cafe stop before we head to the airport.
We checked in 47kg worth of stuff and hand-carried another 10 kg I think. Crazy, I know!
Best part of the flight: free upgrade to Business Class for the flight from HK to Singapore!
Very very shuang. Now I know why rich people enjoy their flights so much. So much good food just for supper, what's not to like?
We wished the flight wouldn't end so soon. Even though it's a midnight flight, I kept my eyes wide open throughout the whole flight.
So that I can take in everything and try to remember this beautiful experience =D
I miss my good hair days in Korea. Every day, no styling required, guaranteed good hair day.

With the help of a friendly staff in the Lotte supermart, we finally found the bathhouse!
You need to walk out from the back door of the Lotte supermart and you will be able to see it from afar!
Rates: 12,000won per person if you wanna enjoy the full facilities (including hot spring) for 12 hours.

Found this empty games room and we played the game featured on Running Man.
(FYI, I won two out of three games. =b)
Stan wanted to challenge the 86 degrees room but the steam came out when he opened the door!
And so he closed the door immediately without going in. There are a few kinds of rooms there, with different temperatures and different purposes.
I did this towel thing on my own! Learnt from the Koreans. Wahahahaha... Pro right?
How can we not eat anything in the bathhouse?!
Wanted to eat two eggs for 1,500 won but this ramen is only 3,000 won. So the choice is clear.
And this ramen is the best ramen I have eaten in my life! Noodles cooked to perfection, not too soft or soggy. Add in the rice cakes and EGG!!! Perfect~ (salivating, still)
We finished every bit of it. Yummy
We were at the bathhouse for about 3 hours, very empty in the day. Just as we were about to leave, a bunch of Chinese tourists ran into the bathhouse, shouting across the changing room for their comrades.
We left at the right time, clearly.
Back to shopping at the Lotte super mart! They sell everything, including Daiso stuff, facial stuff, Uniqlo clothes, shoes, chips, fresh produce, etc. Sort of like our Giant, except much nicer and cleaner!
Went back to hotel to deposit our shopping bags before heading out for dinner.
This BBQ place near our hotel looks pretty crowded and we were lucky to get a table.
The pork was soaked in soda water, hence very tender and sweet!
BBQ pork intestines, anyone? They should have this in Singapore! Super yummy when you cut it into small slices and barbecue till golden brown.
We had this super friendly Chinese exchange student working part-time at the restaurant to serve us. He was very very helpful and taught us the right way to appreciate Korean BBQ =)
The whole meal came up to 22,400 won for two of us (approx S$25). Cheap!!!
Last night in Seoul - Myeong Dong for last minute shopping!
Didn't manage to buy much but we saw this really cool juice store with a really cool concept.
Choose your own fruits, and decide how you want it done - smoothie, yoghurt or popsicle!
We chose banana, strawberry and kiwi to make into a smoothie. 160kcal and they even show you the nutrition levels!
I don't know whether we are lucky or suay.
Lucky because at least we gotta see sakura on our last night in Seoul. Unlucky because it's ONLY till the last night that we get to see sakura!
We sorted out everything in one hour and took another hour to pack it into our luggages. Damn shagged.......
Day 8: Sinchon and Yeouido
More 10,000 won bags at Sinchon before we head home. Issac sandwich for the last breakfast in Seoul.
Chicken galbi (BBQ chicken) for lunch!
Stan was having a cough, so we didn't have much BBQ stuff till the last day. Well, at least we tried the authentic stuff once.
Towards the end, you can order fried rice and this is the best part of the meal. All the good stuff in one!
Yay! More sakura today! And the weather was finally up at 16 degrees. Past few days were 8 or 9 degrees.
There is a place called Yeouido Park where they had this Sakura festival for just two days.
Nothing fantastic leh. I think the sakura flowers were in fuller bloom at Sinchon than at Yeouido.
One last cafe stop before we head to the airport.
We checked in 47kg worth of stuff and hand-carried another 10 kg I think. Crazy, I know!
Best part of the flight: free upgrade to Business Class for the flight from HK to Singapore!
Very very shuang. Now I know why rich people enjoy their flights so much. So much good food just for supper, what's not to like?
We wished the flight wouldn't end so soon. Even though it's a midnight flight, I kept my eyes wide open throughout the whole flight.
So that I can take in everything and try to remember this beautiful experience =D
